Conservation actions completed on the Kretuonas Lake island

All conservation actions on the Kretuonas Lake island, foreseen to be implemented in the framework of the LIFE TERNS project, were completed on the second half of October. As it was foreseen a gravel and sand beach, covering 500 m2 area, was established in the place, which formerly was a breeding site for Little terns. It is expected, that suitable conditions will encourage Little terns to come back to the island. High vegetation was also moved from the island and lakeshore, thus the next breeding season is ready to welcome terns with short vegetation and open sandy beach.
