Project management

Project management covers overall project administration as well as supervision of the project implementation and continuation.

  • Project management

The main project beneficiary Lithuanian ornithological society not only supervises overall project administration, but also implements preparatory, conservation, monitoring and dissemination actions. The LOD is responsible for the communication with the EASME, which administrates LIFE projects, as well as with the team of local monitoring experts. The LOD is in charge of preparation the project reports, organisation of monitoring visits and performance of the public procurement procedures. Before the start of the actual project implementation, the cooperation agreements were signed with all partners, where the scope of responsibilities for every partner was foreseen.

The State Enterprise Inland Waterways Authority (VVKD) is responsible for implementation of practical conservation actions in Nemunas river – formation of new sandy islands/beaches for the breeding terns. It will also contribute to the project’s preparatory, monitoring and dissemination actions.

Nemuno kilpos regional park administration is responsible for the practical conservation actions in the regional park. It will also contribute to the project’s preparatory, monitoring and dissemination actions.

Joint stock company EKO-STOMA is responsible for the practical conservation actions in Kalviai gravel pit, it will also contribute to the project’s preparatory, monitoring and dissemination actions.

  • Project supervision and continuation

This action is supervised by the main project beneficiary Lithuanian ornithological society. The LOD will hire independent auditor, which will verify project’s expenditures with the national legislation and accounting rules and certify if all incurred costs comply with the LIFE requirements. During the project implementation 5 Project Steering Committees will be organized. Project continuation in detail will be presented in the After-Life plan, which will cover 5 years after project’s end (2023-2027).
