The second monitoring of Common and Little Terns in the riverbed section of Nemunas between Kulautuva and Jurbarkas

On June 26, the Project staff carried out the second monitoring of the riverbed section of Nemunas river between Kulautuva and Jurbarkas. In cooperation with the Project associated beneficiary state enterprise Inland Waterways Authority, the staff from the LOD repeatedly visited terns’ colonies, that were registered during the first monitoring, as well as checked new potential breeding sites. Due to the very low water level, numerous sandy islands in Nemunas river are available as breeding sites for Little Terns. A few new places were also discovered during this visit. More about the monitoring visit in the video elaborated by the Project ornithologist- specialist Marius Karlonas.
