All GPS transmitters were affixed to the Common terns
08-06-2020
The last GPS transmitters were affixed to the Common terns breeding on the island of the Lake Kretuonas. The birds were equipped with the same type of transmitters as in other project areas. The GPS transmitter is extremely small and with a weight of 3 grams only, therefore it does not harm the terns. In total 45 transmitters were affixed to the Common terns with an aim to collect valuable data about their distribution range, feeding areas as well as other features. Already first data discovered interesting facts about birds’ behaviour. Follow our news, a new data about results of the tracking will be published soon.
