A Little Tern – back to the homeland
29-04-2021
Tis spring is rather cold in Lithuania, however the first Little terns were observed in their regular breeding places. One bird was seen on the island in Nemunas river near Lipliunai settlement, three birds were registered close to Vilkija. This spring is more promising – Nemunas river islands are safely separated by the water from the mainland and thus the breeding sites are protected from the mammal predators. We hope that scenario of last two droughts will not repeat, and new generation will be raised on numerous sandy islands of Nemunas river.
